Management Team
Jason A. Rush, President
Jason Rush founded Cobalt Finance in 2000. Starting a finance company at this time was seen as risky by some, as the truck industry was at a low point. However, Jason knew that a great opportunity existed and that novel thinking could lead to success for his new venture. That vision has become reality, as today, Cobalt is recognized throughout the trucking industry for their high-level of customer service, pioneering sales methods, innovative products and its integrity.
Amongst Jason’s other responsibilities, he leads Cobalt’s Underwriting team which works with their growing network of dealerships and fleets. Jason serves on the Advisory Council for the Truck Blue Book, a leading equipment valuation guide. In 2007, Jason was elected to the Board of Directors of the Used Truck Association.
Before Cobalt, Jason worked at such national finance companies as Heller Financial, Michigan National Bank, and FINOVA Capital. Jason received a B.S. degree from the University of Southern California.
Scott D. Cohen, Principal
Scott Cohen started Cobalt with his former college roommate, Jason Rush in 2000. Together they believed success could only be achieved in an environment where every employee could be challenged and allowed to thrive. Today, Cobalt continues to develop into a great place to work, where everyone is encouraged to reach high goals and is rewarded for their efforts.
Scott leads Cobalt’s Marketing team. In 2006, the Company received credit applications from almost 400 truck dealerships in 31 states across the nation. Cobalt markets its financial products to owner-operators and small fleets through truck dealerships and fleets. Scott also oversees the Company’s Account Services team, which manages the accounts of the Company’s lessees. Scott’s newest responsibility is heading up The Cobalt Agency, which opened in February 2007. The unit offers truck insurance products to Cobalt’s core customers.
Before starting Cobalt, Scott worked for a family business, Douglas Furniture, which manufactures residential furniture. Upon the successful sale of that company, Scott founded Michael Scott, a furniture design and importing firm. Scott holds a B.S. degree from the University of Southern California.
Gina M. Cocking, Chief Financial Officer
Gina Cocking is the Chief Financial Officer of Cobalt. Gina has led the successful raising of capital for the growing business, including a $25 million line of credit with Bank of America in 2005.
Gina’s Business Analysis team developed the company’s proprietary underwriting scoring model, as well as other critical analytics used throughout the company. Gina also leads the Company’s accounting team.
Prior to joining Cobalt in 2004, Gina spent her career in investment banking. Gina has worked for Kidder, Peabody & Co, J.P.
